People that are down on the Padres’ offense already, should give them a little bit more time. Not only is the sample small, and it is quite small, it’s biased against the hitters. In 16 games, the Padres have played 10 games in PETCO Park, 3 in AT&T Park and 3 in Dodger Stadium. Not only are those all pitchers’ parks, but the weather has been cold, which further suppresses hitting.
Similarly, people that think the Padres have the greatest pitching staff ever should temper their enthusiasm for all the same reasons. It’s a long season, folks. And we’ve only seen a small slice of it.
